Authentic atmosphere:
No matter where you are in the city, you'll experience a true Austrian splendour - you'll find a really beautiful and well-kept city with great respect for itself. This also means that there's no faulting the well-kept castle parks, the decoration of the city and the city buildings. In the city itself, you'll find a perfect balance between the former traditional baroque style and a more modern and youthful university city. Salzburg can accommodate both and has managed to create a perfect balance between these two worlds.
Tips:
Salzburg is full of cosiness and atmosphere! Enjoy a good cup of coffee at one of the many cosy sidewalk cafés and sit back and soak up the atmosphere. Don't miss out on a genuine Austrian Apfelstrudel - a delicious piece of apple cake!
There are also plenty of opportunities to grab a cold beer and the iconic Brezel, which can be found on every street corner.

Without food and drink you cant go on - not even in Salzburg. The city offers many exciting restaurants and eateries that are well worth a visit, including the local market, where you can find many exciting specialities and produce. Here you can also taste delicious local dishes that exude a genuine Austrian atmosphere and visit the monastery shop St Peter, which offers many fun finds - here you can try the "monastery tropf", which is produced by Austrian monks.
